Warning! Your Chopping board needs feeding!

Warning! Your Chopping board needs feeding!

January can be bleak. For many it is a time for reflection and a time to take stock but it can also be a time to take the bull ( that is life) by the horns and get on top of all those jobs you ran out of time to do last year.
I've decided not to set any goals this month and to just crack on doing as I wish without sticking to anything I may actually fail at!  In return I've found myself pottering around the house, de-cluttering because I want to, going to bed early because I can and getting on top of maintenance because I'm enjoying it! One of the jobs I've started to crack on with is re-oiling my boards...
Re Oiling
It's really important thing to remember to regularly oil your From the Oak Tree chopping board. Without nourishing the wood and showing it some love your board will begin to crack as the moisture builds up inside.  It's a five minute job that will repay and serve you with many years of use!  Without proper care the wood will expand, warp and can at times rot.

In order to keep your chopping board in best condition we advise against immersing it in water, tuning it over often to stop cupping and avoid considerable changes in temperature. To avoid black marks do not place aluminium or soft metals on them.

So heres what you need to do when oiling:
1/ Lightly sand along the grain to remove any unsightly marks.  help remove the marks.
2/ Apply some food safe oil to a clean cloth  (we suggest mineral oil but Olive, or rapeseed oil will do just the job)
3/ leave it to soak in for a few minutes and then wipe any excess off
If you really want to give it a good once over- let it dry  completely and repeat the above process!
For the best results:
"Oil it once a day for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year, and then once a year for the rest of your life.”
