Our Large Sharing Board is also known as a Smorgasbord coming from the Swedish words ”smörgås” meaning sandwich (typically a simple open sandwich of bread and butter) and “bord” meaning table but a Smorgasbord typically contains a whole variety of foods and not just bread and butter – yum! Our board worked perfectly for our hungry après ski appetites built up from all that exercise and fresh air last week but I also use my one at home a lot when entertaining friends to stave off the pre-dinner tummy rumbles and help to soak up those first couple of glasses of vino.
Humous with carrots, cucumber and pepper batons look colourful next to smoked salmon and cream cheese blinis and a small pot of olives never seems to last long! Check out Good Food’s recipe for some inspiration!!
Interestingly, the term ‘smorgasbord’ can also be used to describe the varied nature of something within the English language. For example, ‘trying out a smorgasbord of outdoor activities can lead to the discovery of a new hobby’ or ‘the manager had to resolve a smorgasbord of problems before he could begin work! Bet you didn't know that ?! Every day is a school day as they say!!!
